LatestWorksDesconectados is an ongoing series of paintings studying everyday life in Sitges, Spain. Each work begins with a photograph I took myself, capturing a moment when someone is simply being human: offline, unguarded and present.
Technology has taught us to share life as a perfect snapshot of joy: the best angle, the brightest smile, the moment worth posting. But real life happens in between. These paintings live in that space, in the squint against the sun, the hand over the mouth, the quiet drift across the water. The subjects aren’t posing. They’re living.
Each scene is framed as if seen through a phone screen, yet the people in it have stepped away from theirs. That’s the tension at the heart of the series: we watch through technology the very moments when technology is set aside. Desconectados asks what it looks like to be truly human, and what we notice when we finally disconnect.
